An Unusual Campus on the Thames

The building on the Thames, designed by Farshid Moussavi in 2010, is clad with 28,000 aluminum tiles in different shades that form a mosaic pattern. Round windows of various sizes create a sense of movement and reflect the university’s experimental nature. In 2011, the facade earned Ravensbourne University London the RIBA award as the best higher education facility—RIBA Journal called it a masterclass in functional design, standing proudly alongside the iconic O2 arena.

Kit Store — Industry Standards

Open to everyone, Kit Store offers equipment from leading manufacturers. Among the cameras are the Arri Alexa, which has shot numerous Oscar-winning films, along with Sony FS7, Red, and Phase One. For photography, both DSLR and mirrorless models are available—from basic Canon 700D to advanced Sony A7s II with extensive video capabilities. Ravensbourne University London’s equipment covers a wide range of tasks, from studio shoots to film sets, including Bowens, Elinchrom, Arri, Dedolight, and KinoFlo systems with all accessories, while audio gear features Sennheiser, Shure, Korg, and Sound Devices for any need.

Ravensbourne Production Labs

Two prototyping labs are equipped with 3D scanners, laser cutters, 3D printers, and Risograph printing. Here, traditional production methods combine with computer-aided design, allowing concepts to be transformed into final models. The fashion atelier, led by specialists who’ve worked with Alexander McQueen and international designers, offers a full range of industrial equipment. Among 17 types of sewing equipment are machines for working with leather (cylinder arm, post bed), denim (twin needle), stretch fabrics (cover stitch), and embroidery. Ravensbourne gives students free access to all workshops regardless of their specialization.
